CONTACTS

A silver object from the Marcello Giorgio workshop passes from hand to hand through the countless different phases of production. All the procedures require artistic mastery and skill. The technical skill goes hand in hand with meticulous and painstaking workmanship.

Silverware is produced using two different techniques: laminating and pressing.

Laminating is used specifically for three-dimensional or full-relief objects. From a wax or plasticine prototype which is hand-sculpted or hand-engraved, a resin cast is obtained. The silver is then applied onto the cast using a electroforming technique.

Pressing involves the shaping of a sheet of silver by applying pressure. One characteristic of the pieces produced by Marcello Giorgio is the combination of shiny and satined surfaces. This is accomplished through a combination of burnishing and brushing the silver by hand
